Please add your name and boat details to this post by adding a reply to let us know who might be coming.

Follow the example of the world champions get in early and do the practice, Porthpean have an open
on 14/15 July, increase your chances many times by dong both events...

This club has a good fleet of Tasars and a quick look at the world standing will show you there are
some very good sailors here. This location has great sailing and is in a place where you can have
a great family holiday lets see if we can beat 50 participants in the nationals this year.

Great place to sail, good facilities, easy parking and a good range of accommodation near by,

NOTE for the Nationals book your accommodation early it is a bank holiday, Cornwall is very busy, contact
the club for help with accommodation...

I entered on Saturday thinking the deadline was the end of JUNE .....  but all entered up now.

For the nationals the boats are parked on the green so the sooner you enter the better the location don’t leave it too long  as the entries have already stared to come in.

Its been rumored that Steve Cockrill has entered (or is entering), rumors have it he is also doing Torbay week.

so anyone up for a bit or pre nationals practice don’t forget the Porthpean Tasar open coming up soon and Torbay week.

Which bit do you call the green? The bit in between the sailing club and second area of dinghy park? Car park?

Any social plans as yet? Excellent band last time I was at Porthpean - although that could have been the cheap beer...

An email i recieved from Lionel at Porthpean ...... Today....

Now look here boys and girls.  It’s about time that some of you parted with your money.  I know that times are hard and you are all watching the pennies, but if you want to sail in the event of the year and do it for only £110 then you had better get your entry forms together with cheques for this year’s Nationals to me before the end of the month.  Our Treasurer is starting to get worried, but I have assured her that we will have over 50 boats sailing (I wish).  Nevertheless we ought to get into the 30s if previous Tasar Nationals at Porthpean are anything to go by.  I’ll repeat again the entry fee is £110 but will rise to £140 after July 31st.  Entry forms can be found on line at www.porthpeansc.co.uk   The schedule is for 8 races, over 4 racing sessions.  Weather conditions at the time will help dictate how many races we get in each session.  Should we have favourable conditions then one of the Championship races will be a long distance race.  We will talk more about that at the Thursday night buffet, when everyone will receive a prize.

There will be a Pizza night & a BBQ night on Friday & Saturday but not sure what order they will be in, again subject to weather nearer the time.  I would like to promise you a nice hot sunny 4 days with pleasant 12 knots offshore winds, but this year that has been very difficult to provide and I must say that the chances of rain remain remarkably high, but don’t worry about that as you will all be acclimatised to that by now.

Accommodation in the area is diverse with many guest houses and hotels in the near vicinity.  However some of you like to rough it and camp out and there are indeed some excellent camp sites not too far away.  Those of you who have been before know that there is a large car park almost adjacent to the Club and the owner has been quite happy over Championships that we have held over the last few years to allow camper vans and tents to be pitched in the car park.  Anyone wishing to take advantage of this should make their arrangements with the car park man when they arrive.  It more or less means that you can spend your time based at the Club and not worry about drink driving etc.  I think our toilets will be open at night.  Jenny, our bacon butty specialist, will be providing cooked breakfasts for those who want them on Friday, Saturday or Sunday mornings.

Now for those living closer to Cornwall you also have an excellent opportunity to try out our waters and especially our slipway at our Tasar Open Meeting which will be over the weekend July 14th & 15th.  The event was won last year by Rob & Claire without winning a race and the event was also the supplier of some fantastic pictures on Y&Y showing Tasars launching through waves.  Just think you could also be a star!!!.  See you there.

Lionel Rigby.

Day two begins, the wids for today are alot lighter, yesterday saw 17-25kts and some great Tasar sailing, there was some controversy about the windward spreader mark, where some boats didn't go around it but the race officer should have this sorted today, it didn't effect the people who read the saling instructions.
Provisional results
